Which Excel files can I import?
The current importer supports the specified Micro Rent source layout in .xlsx, not arbitrary spreadsheets. Sheet names and columns must match the import instructions. Property/room sheets require the property/building and address columns; tenant or tenant-and-contract sheets supply tenant profiles. Check the mapping first; formulas and macros are unsupported.
Does uploading immediately create rental records?
No. Review the preview, correct errors and resolve duplicate candidates by choosing new, existing or skip before confirming import. Using an existing record does not overwrite its fields. Records are created only after validation and confirmation.
Can I import leases and payments too?
An optional mode creates lease drafts. It does not activate leases, generate invoices, infer collected deposits or copy attachments. Review imported drafts before activation and prepare invoices and actual collection records separately. Source payment-status columns do not become recorded receipts.
Who can import and how long does a preview last?
Personal owners and organization admins/managers can import; staff cannot. Pending previews expire after 24 hours and require a new upload. An identical completed file returns its receipt instead of creating duplicates; a re-exported file still needs duplicate review.
